  • I was supposed to get a Barton 2500+ w/stock HS/Fan, but instead I got jerked around.

mparar was the Seller on October 26, 2005 AnandTech

I was supposed to be buying a CPU from a relatively new 'trader'. Instead, he wasted my time, and backed out on a 'deal' after I had already sent him Paypal to cover the shipping costs (as we had agreed).

Here is what he had to say:
"Thanks for the information about verified and confirmed addresses. Please find your paypal account credited for $5 toward a refund for the shipping costs that you had so kindly paid in advance. I am not very comfortable bearing the brunt of your condescending PMs. I realize I made a mistake when I referred to your email account as a gmail account and also for this verified/confirmed thing, but come on, give a man a break. I am juggling multiple PMs about multiple parts for sale with multiple people, and sometimes a man makes a mistake..."

His reason was that I was 'Condescending' in my PM's. I certainly wasn't. When I Paypal'd him the money, I also sent him my shipping address. He asked if I wanted the items shipped to my Paypal 'Confirmed' address. I explained again that I didn't have a PP Confirmed address, only a 'Verified' address (I refuse to send PP my CC info). The 'other' time was when he called my email account a gmail account, I simply let him know about it in case he thought I was someone else.

If there is any doubt, here is the ?ÇÿCondescending?ÇÖ PM he was talking about in its entirety:

?Ç£On 10/25/05 @ 11:03AM I sent you a PM that said "I am a 'Verified' user with Paypal. I do not have a 'confirmed' address. I will not give Paypal my Credit Card info (which is required to become 'confirmed')". Yes, please send it to the shipping address that I have with my Paypal account. That is the only address I have. I don't mean to sound like an 'Ass', I just want you to know the difference between a Verified and a Confirmed Paypal account. If you feel uneasy sending it to a non-Confirmed address, then please let me know and I am sure we can work something out.

It is my pleasure buying the CPU. It 'fits-the-bill' for what I need. I thank you for your patience and willingness to co-operate.

    -Ken?Ç¥

That is certainly not a reasonable way to act whether he had 2 or 200 trades. If he had mentioned something earlier about him being uncomfortable about dealing with me earlier, I would have been prepared for him backing out. Instead he blindsided me and wasted my time. Please feel free to PM me @ anandtech.com (user ID ?Çÿdeadken?ÇÖ) for a full listing of all the PM?ÇÖs and Emails. I have not taken the decision to leave a Neutral lightly. It is after consideration that I feel that it is necessary to warn others.

    Response from mparar
I am glad I refunded Ken's $5. He has too much time on his hands. There are a couple of inaccuracies in the long-winded bilge he's written. There was no message about a shipping address with the paypal email. And, I did not receive a shipping address directly from him at any point (look at your PMs and email Ken). Thus, my question about the 'confirmed' address'. Anyhow, I decided I had better things to to than get PMs from him.
Well, I am hoping to get this struck down since there was no sale. If that doesn't happen I'll be leaving the true version in his feedback on heatware.

  • Purchased 2 512 sticks of Hyper-X DDR RAM

mparar was the Seller on November 7, 2005 HardForum

mparar was very helpful in assisting me in getting together some parts for a new build. Its too bad that I only bought RAM from him, as he had a bunch of other good stuff laying around as well, but my wallet is not as fat as I wish it was. (I Will Work For [H]ardware!)

Great trader, I'd definantly trade with him again.
