  • Sold him a case with aftermarket fans for some paypal

HardTech was the Buyer on April 8, 2003 AnandTech

I buy the case about a year ago for $160, and add another $20 for some fans. I never use it as I never had enough funds to buy another computer.

Anyway, fast forward to a few weeks ago when I sell my case and fans for $100 shipped (while the going rate is still about $120 shipped without any fans). Phil says he would buy the case, and I informed him that as soon as I shipped it, I would be out of town for a week on spring break.

He receives the case with the USB bezel broken off (a very minor thing on a Lian-Li if you have one) and starts sending me e-mails and PM's (some of which weren't so pleasant). I have had no internet access while I was out of town, and was shocked to see him so out of shape about something so minor. For an earlier project, I used the floppy covers so those were missing as well.

I offer him $20 to repay for damages. He claims to have paid $75 to make everything look like new, so I counter-offer with $35. He says he'll accept it. (keep in mind, this is $100 - $35 = $65 for something I purchased a year ago for $180)

I have done everything I can to rectify the situation. He sends me money and I ship the case. He complains about stuff being broken, so I offer some money to help him fix it. The case is used and I sold it for a significant discount. It is not my fault he wants everything on the case to look absolutely perfect with such a discount.

I will admit that I suggested that we don't leave each other any heatware. I feel that I've done everything I can to make this situation good, and he just turns around and says "It's not good enough" and gives me a neutral feedback.. something I don't feel is warranted. In any case, I will NEVER deal with Phil again. Not because he is dishonest in his trading ways, but because he is simply too demanding and has to "have it his way".
