  • I traded an AMD Athlon "Thunderbird" CPU for Ryin's 3COM 10/100 LAN+56K PC Card.

    Cross-traded on May 16, 2001 AnandTech

I contacted Ryin after I noticed that he was looking to trade the PC Card for an ATi Radeon 64MB DDR w/ViVo. Although I didn't have such a card available at the time, I told him that I would buy it in return for the PC Card. He agreed, and I set out to buy this card from my "supplier." I received the PC Card within a few days, and found it to be in pristine condition. (It was still shrinkwrapped, as he said it would be.) Alas, to my surprise it turned out that I was unable to get Ryin the Radeon because the person I was getting them from no longer had this model available. Ryin then asked me to purchase a HD that was on sale at the time at Staples. Although a CSR initially told me that I could use a credit card that wasn't registered in the U.S., I was unable to complete the purchase on their web site when I tried to place the order. It turned out then that I had to have a credit card that was registered in North America after all. Ryin and I decided then to play it safe, and I ordered the above-mentioned CPU for him from Steve (Compuwiz1). It arrived soon after, and I was happy to finally take care of my part of the deal. Ryin was patient throughout all this time, and it must be mentioned that he not once showed any sign of anger towards my inability of finding him the item he was originally interested in. A great guy to deal with, in my humble opinion.
