    OnePlus One trade for Nexus 5+$250

    I made a deal with orevilo to trade my OnePlus One for a Nexus 5 and $250 through paypal. After receiving the phone, orevilo stated that he'd dropped the Nexus 5, and the screen had shattered. I did not want a broken phone so I asked him to ship the OnePlus One back without opening the package. He confirmed that he had not opened the package, and would return it.

    When I received the phone, the OnePlus One back, the package was very clearly opened, and the SIM card reader was damaged. When I asked him why he had opened it, he said that he wanted to try it out before making a new deal, even though I specifically told him not to open the package since he could not keep the terms of our established deal. After reading our messages, the moderators of /r/hardware swap agree that he should not have opened the package, and that I made that fact very clear.

    Now, I'm left with a phone that doesn't function anymore and orevilo has started a dispute with PapPal to get his money back.

    This was a trade gone bad.

    I believe nittyt1 was attempting to scam me with a broken OPO. The timeline they stated was correct. I opened the package to ensure nothing had been broken in transit, but I never touched the sim tray. The verification photos that nittyt1 had provided also showed the phone with an inoperable sim tray.
