  • I traded my Abit KR7A-Raid mobo + (2x) 128mbs generic DDR + 30 Gig HD + cash for DMarti?ÇÖs Tyan S2460 mobo + (1x) 256mbs Crucial ECC/Reg DDR.

    Cross-traded on June 17, 2002 AMDMB

We agreed to cross-ship overnight to minimize down time. I shipped my package out Thursday and it arrived Friday. Unfortunately, DMarti?ÇÖs package was not picked up by UPS until Friday and was not delivered until the following Monday, 3 days later. Upon inspection, the box was crushed and the memory I received was not Crucial but generic ram with Micron ram chips.

I tested the parts and luckily everything was ok. However, the shipping delay and ram disparity remained. According to DMarti, the package was ready to go out Thursday but for whatever reason, UPS did not show up to pick it up until the next day. As for the ram, DMarti indicated that he was not familiar with Crucial ram and was told that it was Crucial when he acquired it.

DMarti gave me the option of killing the deal and returning our respective parts or adjusting the costs. I felt it was not necessary to kill the deal and opted to negotiate a new deal. In the end, DMarti refunded my overnight shipping cost and the difference between Crucial vs. generic ram. While frustrating, we were able to come to a mutually agreeable solution.
