He agreed to trade me 256MB of PC-133 SDRAM and some Cash ($20 IIRC) for a SB Live! Platinum.
Cross-traded on December 15, 2001 ArsTechnica
The actual hardware trade went fine, he recieved the Platinum and I recieved the RAM. However, I soon forgot all about the money, and evidentally he did too, and when I was doing my books, I realized that I hadn't been payed. So, I notified the mods as a security measure and sent him an e-mail. It took him a few days to respond, but he soon sent me a credit-card funded payment via PayPal. I told him I'd prefer to just have either a payment that I could accept, or a MO or Check. He said if I rejected it he'd send it again -- and I interpreted that as meaning that he was going to send the CC Payment again, so I sent him a long letter explaining my intentions. I soon recieved a bank funded payment only seconds after a letter of him saying that he thought the bank funded payment would've come through and that he'd send a postal MO.
In the end, I have my money/RAM and he has his SB Live! Platinum. I don't know whether he didn't send the money on purpose or accident, but I'm gonna guess it's an accident. Hell, I was forgetful about the deal as well. In any case, he made up for it by completing the deal and including some extra money for my troubles.
I'd deal with this guy again, if only because he went through so much effort to try to make the deal work. He even gave me his phone number in one of the first e-mails. I called it, to make sure it was legit, and we talked about the deal for a while, the return policies, etc. This deal went kinda rough, but Lawaris was very apologetic, etc.
