  • I bought an HSF and window kit from duong.

fourtwenty was the Buyer on March 27, 2003 RedFlagDeals

Not a very good experience. We agreed on a price of $64, which included shipping. Once I made payment he told me he couldn't ship right away because his replacement HSF hadn't arrive yet. I feel he should have told me he was waiting for a replacement before I paid, and he may not be able to ship right away. A few days past and he shipped the items out Xpresspost.
They arrived 2 days later. When I opened the package I found the window was scratched by the HSF. Everything arrived in a plastic bubble wrap envelope and the HSF was not wrapped in anything. The only protection the window had from the metal edges of the HSF was a clear plastic bag and the film that comes stuck to the window. When I told him it was damaged he responded "Next time, maybe you should put some money to help with shipping? ;)" When I demanded that he refund my money he replied "All sales are final, sorry."
This issue was brought public at a few forums and after much kicking and screaming he refunded my money for the window kit (including shipping), which I will be mailing back to him. Duong did have good communication throughout the deal, I can't fault him on that one, and I don't think he intended to troll me. I'm sure he's learned a valuable lesson on shipping/packing, and on proper conduct when engaging in trades with adults. Exercise proper judgment if you decide to engage in a trade with Duong. I will be keeping all his correspondence should anyone be interested in reviewing it.

    Response from proudviet
I told him after he paid that he would have to wait until after the weekend before I shipped it out because I didn't get my SLK-800A yet, he didn't show any objections so I went through with the deal.

My comments were not serious and I didn't mean for him to take it that way.

He brought the issue to Anandtech, Redflagdeals and Overclockers.com when the deal had only occured at Anandtech! It hadn't even been *12 hours* and he went public!!!

After the sour deal, he agreed that he would remove the Negative Heatware -- which now he denies. I left him Negative Heatware because he was *very hostile* throughout our emails and PMs which then got me banned from Anandtech for *2 weeks* for leaving "retaliatory heat". I was very nice to him the whole time, even though he screwed me over.

I would never trade with fourtwenty again. His actions damaged my name as an online trader and the things he had said/done did not help the situation at hand.

I replied to the Anandtech post and people were agreeing with me and fourtwenty started lashing out at them too until the Moderator locked the thread.

DID HE MENTION THE VANTEC AEROFLOW I SENT HIM? Of course not, he just wants to ruin my name.

Consider this a Negative Heatware for fourtwenty since Anandtech will not let me leave him one.

  • Bought a copy of XP home edition then returned it when it wasn't what I thought it was.

fourtwenty was the Buyer on September 27, 2002 AnandTech

I had a post asking for a legit operating system. I made a deal with AMD soldier for Windows XP Home. He told me that it had a small Dell logo on the CD, which was fine by me. When it arrived I found that it was just the CD, (which was a re-installation CD for a new Dell computer) and had the CD-key hand written on the paper sleeve. When we made the deal he did not tell me that he wouldn't be able to provide everything required to make it a legal sale of OEM software. I returned it to him as soon as I got it. He kept great communication with me and I don't believe that he was purposely trying to troll me. However I think he should have been more forthcoming with details about the software. I have the private message as a .pdf if anyone wants to read it. I would still reccomend him as a trader, don't hold this one transaction against him.

  • Bought a Duron 750 from this guy.

fourtwenty was the Buyer on January 30, 2003 AnandTech

I bought a Duron 750 from Quentin. When it arrived it didn't work. I tried removing all the pencil markings and tested it on 2 computers. In his post he described it as "I can't for the life of me remember where this one came from. It has pencil across some of the bridges. I throw away all junk parts so I believe this to still be good. Another experimenter's deal of the day." I think he could have been more specific about the fact that he wasn't guaranteeing it would work. I only found that out after I asked for my money back. Needless to say I didn't get it back. I think there was some misunderstanding here and if you are considering a deal with Quentin I wouldn't hold it against him. Look at all the positive feedback he has!! None the less I am not satisfied with this transaction and that is why I have left neutral feedback. If you would like more details of this transaction I have kept .pdf files of the post as well as the PM communication.

I do have to admit that "Experimenter's Deal of the Day" could have been misinterpreted but do believe that he should have asked what that meant especially when I sold it so cheap. He was very professional about the whole thing though and I WOULD deal with him again.
