  • This review posted December 9, 2014. My description is below the pasted "For Sale" text. Original For Sale Post on November 5, 2014: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1839980 Pasted text from post: FST: Xbox 1 - $149 !! KILLER DEAL! Hi everyone, So, to make a long story short, somebody had given my their Xbox 1 as collateral for money they owed me. They won't be able to come up with that money to pay me back, so the Xbox is now mine. I don't want the thing, and just want the money that was owed to me. SO- here it is. An Xbox 1 console for only $150 shipped to your door. Included is the console only, as well as originally included accessories. Sorry no games or original box. Everything is in pristine condition, and had only been used for a few months prior. http://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2013/11/19/8cc6dd8e-67c2-11e3-a665-14feb5ca9861/thumbnail/770x433/d9917c19b167ee7ea244c0da6dece26c/XBox_One_35657846_15.jpg Item pictured is not the actual unit. SOLD! [END OF FOR SALE POST PASTED TEXT] shroomiin originally posted an XBOX One for sale on November 5, 2014 for $150 shipped. I sent a message to him within 4 minutes of his post saying I would buy it. Abridged conversation as follows: [Nov. 5] SHROOMIIN - I don't have PayPal. Can you pay with a money order or check? ME - I will only do MO or check if you ship first. I have lots of Heat but if you aren't comfortable with that then I will pass. [Nov. 6] SHROOMIIN - LOL no one wants to do MO/check so I will do PayPal, you still want it? Here's my PayPal address (same as his Heatware address). ME - Sure, I have sent payment. Let me know the tracking number when you ship out. [Nov. 10, 4 days later] ME - I'm not in a particular hurry, but can you give me an update on the shipping status? SHROOMIIN - It's been hectic lately. I will ship out tonight or tomorrow. You'll see it by the end of the week. [Nov. 14, another 4 days pass] ME - I still haven't received a tracking number. SHROOMIIN - I have shipped multiple XBOX Ones lately (3 total), what's your shipping address? ME - Here's my name and address: _______. SHROOMIIN - I don't see your payment in my PayPal account. Give me the transaction ID. ME - Here's the transaction ID: _______. [Nov. 16] Now 2 more days have passed WITHOUT a tracking number. SHROOMIIN - I see the PayPal payment, we're all good now. ME - So where's the tracking number? This is the last contact I have with shroomiin. I sent multiple messages through PM and to his email requesting a tracking number over 4 more days. At the end I give an ultimatum and say if I don't get an update I will be forced to open a PayPal dispute. I open a PayPal dispute on Nov. 21, which is then automatically escalated to a claim by Nov. 24 since shroomiin did not respond. As far as I know shroomiin never responded to either the claim or the dispute. PayPal sides with me and I finally got my refund on December 5, nearly a full month after paying shroomiin.

I've been trading for over 10 years on various forums and this is the worst transaction I have ever had.

I never want to give a bad review but I think shroomiin has earned it. I had given shroomiin multiple chances to remedy the situation. shroomiin was unresponsive after payment, was disingenuous concerning his back story about the fact he actually had multime XBOX One units (not just the single one he had for sale), was unapologetic about delays, lied about shipping out, and ultimately I had to file a claim on PayPal to receive a refund.

As of December 9, 2014 shroomiin has not logged in again on HardForum since his last contact with me on November 16. I sincerely hope this was all a big misunderstanding and that he is all right. But, given that I was in sporadic contact with him in the beginning and the fact that he was not being forthright in his communication and the fact he was pressing for a money order or check, I feel that he was trying to scam folks. His previous Heatware evaluations show at least one other instance of him not delivering a tablet, but offering a refund. Please consider carefully before dealing with shroomiin if he ever shows his face again.

    Response from shroomiin
I am an honest trader and seller... I never intended to rip anybody off. I made the mistake of selling an item for a friend that I didn't have in my hands. Once the item sold, he gave me a run around story as to why he can't drop the item off at my house just yet. Once I realized that this "friend" was just trying to pull a fast one on me, and use me as the proxy and scapegoat to rip off the end buyer.. I refunded brinstar's money.

All had been sorted out and it really was a big mix up... I take responsibility but this is not consistent with my selling practices. I am an honest and forthright seller.

They were packaged extraordinarily well, even better than many other traders do for high end parts!
I was hoping some others would jump on the freebies, but when no one bit I thought I might as well have as much as could fit in a medium flat rate box right before Pete said he would recycle them. I will be able to get some very old laptops on to my network with many parts to spare!

  • I purchased an old Sapphire Radeon 4650 DDR2 1GB AGP (you read that right!) for the price of shipping from starhawk.

brinstar117 was the Buyer on September 6, 2013 HardForum

starhawk generously offered the card in the HardForum's Freebie thread. After some exchange of information through private message starhawk mailed out the card in a small flat rate box after I sent payment through PayPal.

The card came well protected in a giant antistatic sheet and bubble wrap. I installed it in my old Pentium 4 desktop and it pumped some new life into the aging beast. Thanks so much starhawk, much appreciated!

brinstar117 was the Buyer on February 16, 2020 AnandTech

The mini-PC was described as dead and was offered for the price of shipping. Great communication from bigrod as he described the issue with the PC and answered my questions thoroughly. PC was packed well with the original retail box and accessories and shipped out promptly. In fact, I received better and more attentive service from bigrod than I have from other sellers in transactions of much greater value. I was able to get the PC to work again by manually reflashing the BIOS chip externally with a Raspberry Pi. Thanks again bigrod I appreciate all you did.

Seller was very good at describing the items and negotiating a price. THRiLL KiLL shipped out everything promptly at great expense and pre-emptively made another shipment when he realized he had probably forgotten to include an item. This second shipment included lots of bonus extras to fill up the box. This was all done without me asking and I extremely appreciated it.
