Claims He sold me a 40gb WD harddrive, but it was really an IBM Hitachi Travelstar.
Eniigma was the Buyer on August 3, 2009 AnandTech
Came with harddrive password security enabled (common on laptop harddrives), if unfamiliar - unable to post ATA commands without it, impossible to format. As good as dead without the password. Practically called me stupid, told me to learn how to use a pc, and that it was user error. Refused to refund money. Lied and said he formatted the drive himself, if he did, the laptop he did it in enabled the security, because there\'s no way he did otherwise. The manufacturer won\'t unlock it because it is a security measure, have to provide proof of ownership, so I\'m out of luck.
Response from reznor83Hard drive was used for a year as an external drive and worked perfectly. Drive was also formatted DoD wipe and tested perfectly fine. User also misread the thread since it was listed as a Hitachi Travelstar drive. User sent multiple demeaning message in 3 days time reporting that it has been several days that I havent responded. This is user error as the hard drive works fine and has never asked me for any password.August 13, 2009
