  • Attempted to sale mobo/cpu combo to user.

fenderstrat was the Seller on August 11, 2016 /r/hardwareswap

I agreed to part a system out to this user, although in my posting stated I would prefer not to as I didn't have all the boxes. I told the user that I would ship as soon as possible, under the assumption I had proper boxes for the hardware. That evening I went through my boxes and found that I did not have the proper packaging material and the next morning refunded user immediately. Smittypantz was resistant to this outcome and would continue to try to talk me into going out of my way to send the parts. I replied with I would try my best but had family in town and was very busy with my kid's starting school soon. I was unable to find the time to go out of my way to send the parts and the user would in return post feedback on here out of what I assume to be spite.

I would avoid this user based on the fact they do not understand how life works and want it their way or no way.

    Response from smittypantz
I have no problem with this evaluation. I just want to clarify one part. In reference to this quote " Smittypantz was resistant to this outcome and would continue to try to talk me into going out of my way to send the parts."

Here is our exact conversation with out paraphrasing.

slimpsy - "Hey Matthew, some bad news. . . I went to pack things up this morning and while I thought I had a motherboard box with anti-static bag and some extra packaging it turned out to be a box for a 980ti with no motherboard anti-static bag. I've looked through what I have here and it doesn't look like I have anything that I could safely ship the motherboard in without damaging it. Although I thought I for sure had a motherboard box, I do not. I will see what I can come into and touch base with you again. My kids are starting school this week and my in-laws are coming into town so I really don't know when I'm going to be able to have time to get something figured out. As such I am refunding your payment. It's unfortunate because I did disassemble everything last night on my extra desk. I don't want to keep you waiting and notice a lot of great 4790k deals popping up on the sub so I will touch base with you again if I figure something out and you haven't found something. Please accept my apology for this inconvenience. . . it's equally frustrating for me. Enjoy your weekend! Refund coming your way :)"

Me - "Buy some anti-static bubble wrap at the post office or ups. I bought many other parts to complete this build and now I am missing the core components. I thought we went through all this, you said your an experienced pro at shipping. This is not a problem its an easy fix."

slimpsy - "Ok, I will try to wrap with bubble wrap then. I am experienced in shipping with actual component boxes and anti-static wrap. I'm more than willing to work it out, I Just didn't want to keep you waiting so I refunded. I will see what I can find at officemax today. I have the items ready, I just wanted to ensure they were shipped as safely as possible."

slimpsy - "Would the medium size usps priority box & bubble wrap be safe enough???"

Me - "I recommend you find a few boxes around he house that are close to the size of the components. Wrap the motherboard in the antistatic bubble wrap then put it in a small box. Leave the cpu and cpu cooler installed on the mobo. Wrap the ram and ssd in newspapers or grocery bag and tape them to the box the motherboard is in. Then pad usps box and insert the box with mobo and other parts. Then pad the pacage a bit more. You can use newspaper to pad the package or maybe you have some old bubble wrap from amazon or something. That will probably have to go in a large usps flat rate. If so I will through you a 5 or so bucks to cover the difference."

Me - "I will resend your money sometime soon. I am at work and it is a little tricky."

Me - "Just let me know your time frame for all this. I"

Me - "I water you to know I appreciate you giving me a fast refund and I understand what you were going for. I also appreciate you changing your mind and deciding to send them after all. It's been a hard week for me (my dog died Monday). Once I hear back from you I will send out that money."

Slimpsy - "I am out with my in-laws and family at the moment, I'm going to see what I can do. Let me make sure I can get everything packed and out to you in a timely manner and then re-send payment. I know what it's like to lose an animal, it tears at you pretty deep. . . my condolences. My post office is closed til Monday and as I said my wife works while I am at home with 3 little ones (one newborn) so it makes things difficult to do on weekdays, which is why I refunded you. I feel bad now and am going to work diligently to get these out to you, but I cannot promise exactly when I will be able to ship, as that revolves around my wife's work."

Me - "It does not sound like you left yourself much time to work on this. I was under the impression you would have more time today because that is what you told me. Perhaps you could package the parts tonight or tomorrow and send them with your wife to drop at the usps. Walmart staples and many other stores carry the antistatic bubble wrap."

Slimpsy - "Sorry for the delay in reply. My in-laws came into town and that took priority over my weekend. The primary reason I didn't want to split the system up was because I knew I was short on the boxes as I stated in my ad. I really don't want to buy a bunch of shipping materials and take even more of a hit to get this packed properly. My wife works in the opposite direction of the post office, so that's not something I'm going to make her go out of her way for. I did the right thing by refunding your money the next day after realizing I couldn't ship timely and didn't have the supplies to ship. I'm sorry if that rubs you the wrong way or you disagree with it, but it's going to be a busy week for me again with my oldest two starting school and having to juggle all that. To you it may seem like I could easily run to the store, but we live by the school and my wife and I share transportation so I cannot just "run out". Please understand that and accept my refund and apology and let's move on from this. I wish you the best in your search, and I'm sorry if I let you down."
