What is HeatWare?
"HeatWare" (www.heatware.com) is a community-based user feedback website that has been serving members of various message boards (i.e. AnandTech, HardForum, Reddit, etc) since 1999. HeatWare allows users to buy/sell/trade items with confidence by providing a history of the user's transactions via a rating and feedback system. HeatWare is a 100% free site and has helped over 85,000 users in over 700,000 transactions.
How do I register for an account?
Registering for a HeatWare account allows you to log into the site, submit evaluations about other users, send mail to other users, and makes your username visible in the user directory. To register for an account, click here. Please ensure that you use a valid e-mail address since an e-mail confirmation will be sent to that address. Do NOT replace "@" with "at" or add the text "NOSPAM" to the address. Also, it is best to use the same username at HeatWare as you do on the message boards.
How do I activate my account?
If you have recently registered or changed your account e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours of registering. Hotmail and Yahoo! users should check their bulk mail folder for this e-mail. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation, you can have it resent by going here and attempt to login. If you still require further assistance, please contact us.
I made an error when writing an evaluation, how do I edit it?
If you submitted an evaluation which contains a typographical error or you just want to edit what you wrote, login to your account. Once you have done this, navigate the site to find the evaluation you wish to edit. Then, click on the Edit button to make the necessary changes.
A user backed out of the deal, can I still write an evaluation?
If one party backs out of the deal even after a verbal agreement has been made, NO evaluation can be given to either party. If no goods or money was exchanged, the "deal" is not eligible for evaluation. If you have received an evaluation for a "deal" that did not take place, please contact us.
I was unfairly given a neutral/negative evaluation!
This is where things can get hairy - determining if an evaluation was truly "unfair" or not. In many cases, it is one trader's word against the other and there is no way for HeatWare to know if an evaluation is unfair. Fortunately, we have established a set of guidelines which assist you in settling evaluation disputes. Please read the following very carefully.
The HeatWare staff will NOT act as a mediator between the two parties. Therefore an evaluation can NOT be modified or deleted under any condition except as follows:
- There is a typographical error in the evaluation.
- Evaluation was left for the wrong person.
- Evaluator chooses to retract the evaluation.
- No money/goods were exchanged.
- Evaluation was written in retaliation.
- Duplicate evaluations submitted for the same trade.
If your evaluation falls under one of the categories listed above, you may contact us to have it reviewed, else continue reading.
Because of this policy, users of HeatWare will now be allowed to "Reply" to neutral and negative evaluations to give their side of the story. In order to reply to an evaluation, navigate to your HeatWare evaluations page. Find the evaluation in question and click on the Reply button to respond to the evaluation. Your response will be appended to the evaluation and visible for all users to see.
NOTE: You must be as objective as possible when leaving a Reply. Replies which contains insults, obscenities, or other irrelevant information will be subject to deletion.
The HeatWare.com staff retains the authority to modify/delete evaluations at any time.
How do I change my account username?
If for whatever reason you decide you want to change your account username, you may do so only if you do not have any negative evaluations posted to your account. Also, your desired username must not already be registered on our system. If you wish to change your username go to Account Settings -> Edit Profile after logging into your account.
How do I close my HeatWare account?
To remove your profile from www.heatware.com, login to your account and submit a support request and it will be promptly removed. Note that accounts that contain a Negative evaluation can NOT be removed.
