Purchased a used Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 motherboard with CPU for $60, Paid on Nov 28, received item on Dec 12. Item arrived with damaged CPU socket.
Kingofswag187 was the Seller on November 28, 2018 techPowerUp!
Shipping: Seller sent bogus FedEx number, then a few days later a real USPS Priority tracking number. Item didn't show up in USPS tracking until 5 days after that.
Item Condition: Upon inspection, CPU socket had mangled pins, board was useless. That aside, packing ok, board looked good, came with IO shield. No much of a consolation.
Sale Details: Listing by seller on Techpowerup! was shown as sold. Asked seller what it sold for, to which they replied the sale fell through. I told them I was interested and asked if there was anything wrong with the motherboard, they responded that it was "RAM Finicky". That was all, the seller did insist it was being sold "as-is". Agreed to purchase the board for $60 and sent money.
Follow Up: Item arrived, found the mangled CPU socket. Confronted the seller, who stated THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE CPU socket damage. I asked a moderator on Techpowerup about it, they looked at the revision history for the listing. The seller listing revisions showed at some point listing did mention bent CPU pins. So they knew, and chose to lie to me about it, and hid like a coward behind the "as-is" label. Seller offered a partial refund but never followed up after several attempts to negotiate a partial refund, got no response, seller ghosted. Will not do business with them again. No morals, no integrity, no spine. In 2 decades of buying and selling online, had never purchased a misrepresented item before. Call me lucky.
Response from Kingofswag187I insisted on selling the board as-is as I didn't know about any socket damage, only assumed. Everything you stated was correct, as I was able to get the board to post with a certain stick of RAM, and thus, as-is label. However, I completely take the blame for the shipping issues, FedEX never came to my house to pick up, so I scrapped the label and went USPS route, and received confirmation that it had arrived, but not shipped, until 5 or so days later. I'm sorry that I did not follow up. As for your refund, you contacted me, harassing me, and I was nice to even consider giving you one, again as the sale was "as-is" and you paid "friends and family" through paypal. However, given I was taking a large amount of classes, it slipped through my mind and you never followed up.
Sorry for your troubles, again, but I take no blame for you buying a product with hopes of it working.
Thanks again for your purchase.December 20, 2018
