  • I was supposed to get a Barton 2500+ w/stock HS/Fan, but instead I got jerked around.

deadken was the Buyer on October 26, 2005 AnandTech

I was supposed to be buying a CPU from a relatively new 'trader'. Instead, he wasted my time, and backed out on a 'deal' after I had already sent him Paypal to cover the shipping costs (as we had agreed).

Here is what he had to say:
"Thanks for the information about verified and confirmed addresses. Please find your paypal account credited for $5 toward a refund for the shipping costs that you had so kindly paid in advance. I am not very comfortable bearing the brunt of your condescending PMs. I realize I made a mistake when I referred to your email account as a gmail account and also for this verified/confirmed thing, but come on, give a man a break. I am juggling multiple PMs about multiple parts for sale with multiple people, and sometimes a man makes a mistake..."

His reason was that I was 'Condescending' in my PM's. I certainly wasn't. When I Paypal'd him the money, I also sent him my shipping address. He asked if I wanted the items shipped to my Paypal 'Confirmed' address. I explained again that I didn't have a PP Confirmed address, only a 'Verified' address (I refuse to send PP my CC info). The 'other' time was when he called my email account a gmail account, I simply let him know about it in case he thought I was someone else.

If there is any doubt, here is the ?ÇÿCondescending?ÇÖ PM he was talking about in its entirety:

?Ç£On 10/25/05 @ 11:03AM I sent you a PM that said "I am a 'Verified' user with Paypal. I do not have a 'confirmed' address. I will not give Paypal my Credit Card info (which is required to become 'confirmed')". Yes, please send it to the shipping address that I have with my Paypal account. That is the only address I have. I don't mean to sound like an 'Ass', I just want you to know the difference between a Verified and a Confirmed Paypal account. If you feel uneasy sending it to a non-Confirmed address, then please let me know and I am sure we can work something out.

It is my pleasure buying the CPU. It 'fits-the-bill' for what I need. I thank you for your patience and willingness to co-operate.

    -Ken?Ç¥

That is certainly not a reasonable way to act whether he had 2 or 200 trades. If he had mentioned something earlier about him being uncomfortable about dealing with me earlier, I would have been prepared for him backing out. Instead he blindsided me and wasted my time. Please feel free to PM me @ anandtech.com (user ID ?Çÿdeadken?ÇÖ) for a full listing of all the PM?ÇÖs and Emails. I have not taken the decision to leave a Neutral lightly. It is after consideration that I feel that it is necessary to warn others.

    Response from mparar
I am glad I refunded Ken's $5. He has too much time on his hands. There are a couple of inaccuracies in the long-winded bilge he's written. There was no message about a shipping address with the paypal email. And, I did not receive a shipping address directly from him at any point (look at your PMs and email Ken). Thus, my question about the 'confirmed' address'. Anyhow, I decided I had better things to to than get PMs from him.
Well, I am hoping to get this struck down since there was no sale. If that doesn't happen I'll be leaving the true version in his feedback on heatware.

  • Bought a 200GB SATA HD and a SATA DVD burner.

deadken was the Buyer on February 3, 2012 HardForum

Was looking for a cheap SATA HD and Optical drive for a PC that might be bad. This is my third time dealing with Dracos and it was again a fine experience. The HD + DVD Drives were packaged well and he was calm and patient while I sorted out an issue.

Shipping was quick and his price(s) very reasonable. All around a great seller.

  • PCI USB Card, PCI FireWire Card, and a HP Ink Cartridge.

deadken was the Seller on June 12, 2005 AnandTech

After having such a great 'deal' with 23skidoo last time, I was just happy that I had some items he wanted. We PM each other from time to time, and I am glad I had the chance to meet him.

He is always a Gentleman, his communication is top-notch, and payment was prompt. It is obvious to me why he has over 200 Positives.

  • 2x1GB Corsair Memory PC3200

deadken was the Buyer on February 12, 2008 Rage3D

DeathKnight had listed 2x1GB matched Corsair Memory for sale on the Rage3D forums. After we agreed on terms (price, payment method, etc..) I paid %50 up front, he shipped, I got and tested, I paid the other %50.

I have to say that his shipping was VERY prompt. His packing was top notch. His communication was prompt.

I had a problem with the memory not working with one Motherboard I have. I PM\'d him that I would get it tested on anther PC, but wouldn\'t have it done as fast as I had hoped (but within the time-frame we had agreed upon). DeathKnight was VERY cordial and helpful. Sure enough as soon as I tried it in a different motherboard, it worked right away.

Thanks for a great trade. I would recommend DeathKnight to anyone and I hope to \'trade\' with him again in the future.

  • Used Nextel i730 cell phone

deadken was the Buyer on January 8, 2007 AnandTech

What a good trader ximhkx is! I always say that it is ONLY when things don\'t go \'perfect\' that you really can see how good a trader really is. Well, ximhkx is a GREAT trader.

He checked the phone before he shipped and noticed that the battery wasn\'t good (anymore), he sent me a pm and we worked out a solution. I got the phone but then learned that the phone was a \'boost\' version (it wouldn\'t work with a \'plan\' sim card. I sent ximhkx a pm and explained that I was going through with technical support @ Nextel and that the phone is different then the ones used for a monthly service contract. He never realized there would be a difference (I wouldn\'t have though so either) and we agreed that I should ship the phone back.

All-in-all a problem came up and ximhkx was helpful, patient, and reasonable in getting things corrected right up to and including returning the phone.

Again, this is a GREAT trader here guys. After seeing how well he handles a trade that didn\'t work out, I would have NO PROBLEMS dealing with him for any high dollar amounts.

deadken was the Buyer on December 16, 2006 AnandTech

I had no worries dealing with Blade47. He conducted himself proffessionally throughout the entire process:

His communication skills are top notch, PMs were replied to quickly and in detail.

He shipped promptly, Same day as the 1st half payment as a matter of fact.

He packed well, it was nice to see it had shipped quickly, and nice to see it was packaged well! No rush job with packing.

Overall a VERY pleasant person to deal with. Friendly, professional, and reasonable, what more could you want?

  • Celeron 1.4Ghz (W/HSF), WinXP Home CD W/COA sticker, + 128MB PC133.

deadken was the Seller on April 25, 2005 AnandTech

I sold wdb1966 a few items. He got what he wanted (items) and I got what I wanted (money), all are happy.

Let me say that his communication is VERY GOOD. We kept in touch before, during, and after the 'deal'. He tested the items promptly. I was a bit nervous (first time taking an eCheck), but all went well and it took 3-4days just like it was supposed to. I wouldn't hesitate to 'deal' with wdb1966 again, and I wouldn't have a problem taking an eCheck again either. The deal was actually finished a few days ago, but we were waiting until eCheck cleared to leave heat.

deadken was the Seller on April 10, 2006 AnandTech

I had a TV tuner card that was still brand new in the shrink wrapped box. I saw that Corwin had a WTB thread, so I PM\'d him. We settled on a price and he payed promptly.

He also communicated very well and let me know as soon as he got it and was happy with it.

A nice \'trade\' and I look forward to having the opportunity to deal with Corwin again.

I would deal again in a heartbeat.

  • Used Epox Matx 8RGMI Motherboard

deadken was the Buyer on March 22, 2006 AMDMB

What a great guy to deal with. Good prices, helpful, friendly, good packing, and quick shipping. What more could you ask for?

I\'ll tell you what more you could ask for. You could ask for a person who is helpful and noble when a problem arises. \'Oldmanjenkins\' is EXACTLY that type of person. When I was having problems with the VCore not responding to changes I made in BIOS, he was more then helpful and patient, he was noble and offered a full refund if I was unable to correct it or unhappy with it. Now that is the mark of a good trader.

In the end, I couldn\'t get it to respond, but the price and other features of this board make it too good of a deal to pass up. I will run close to stock settings on it with a smile on my face.

Thanks for a GREAT trade \'oldmanjenkins\'! I hope to be able to trade with you again in the future.

  • Traded a LED Headlamp for (3)92MM fans.

    Cross-traded on April 12, 2005 AnandTech

This trade was a pleasure. 'Karaktu' is very good with communication, and his outlook has a humorous spin. Just the kind of guy I like to 'deal' with.

The fans are new and one is installed. I am very happy. I look forward to 'dealing' with karaktu again!

  • AMD Duron 1600 and Arctic Cooler HS/Fan.

deadken was the Buyer on February 28, 2005 AnandTech

Good trader here folks. Very nice price and he was helpful when minor glitches arose (some people get angry, he was polite and helpful). One 'glitch' was self induced and one dis-appeared. There was a slight delay in shipping, but not a big delay and not even a problem since I didn't need it right away (also, I paid by check). Items were packed FANTASTIC! No worries about them being damaged.

All around a great guy. I hope I have the opportunity to deal with him in the future. Hopefully he will accept Paypal in the future, so it will be easier for me to send him money ;).

  • AMD Mobile Barton 2400+ and Thermalright SP-97.

deadken was the Seller on November 8, 2006 AnandTech

What a pleasant guy to deal with. He has excellent comunication. He was plenty patient while I got strung along by someone else (who had pm\'d me first). As soon as we worked out the details, he paid promptly.

He might be new to Heatware, but he certainly seems to be an experienced trader. I am looking forward to dealing with him again in the future.

  • Gigabyte K8NSNXP Mobo (new), XP-120 (used), + A64 3000+ (used)

deadken was the Buyer on March 5, 2006 AMDMB

    Overall a pleasurable trade.

Tunage listed a \'combo\' at a attractive price and allowed me to switch over to a different CPU that he was offering. When that CPU turned out to be an older core (he provided steppings), he allowed me to switch back to the original combo (he hadn\'t packed/shipped yet). He certainly was flexible and helpful about that.

The items shipped in a reasonable time, and were packaged very well. That is always a \'plus\'.

The way you can tell how good a trader is, is how he reacts when there is a problem. The XP-120 had the wrong clips and didn\'t have the proper backplate for the included Mobo (it was a new mobo). It got a little bumpy while we worked out the resolution, but in the end, he paypal\'d me $5 to help cover the needed parts. He did send the refund very quickly.

It wasn\'t a perfect trade, but it was worked out by both of us. When \'trading\' online, that is the BEST thing you can ask for.

  • Laptop Hard Drive.

deadken was the Buyer on February 19, 2005 AnandTech

I bought a 'used' laptop HD from Zorprime and it was a PERFECT deal! He posted an offer, put forth terms, and even informed me that he would be away for a few days (even thought the HD would be in transit and I probably wouldn't need to contact him).

I received the HD and it was packaged as if it was BRAND-NEW! I couldn't tell it was used. I tested it even though he had tested it, and all is perfect.

I would not hesitate to 'trade' with Zorprime again.
