tennesota was the Seller on January 24, 2002 AnandTech

My transaction with Michael Pitts was less than positive. All communication between us was through private messages on AnandTech.

On Friday January 4, 2002 we agree on a price of $82.50 for a retail copy of Windows XP Home Edition. I immediately send payment via PayPal, Mike acknowledges the payment and I quote, “Great! I received it with no problems. I will get you the DC # once I have shipped the OS. It will be Monday, as I am stuck at work all day tomorrow..ugh. Thanks man! I will PM you once I have a DC# for you. Mike”

Monday January 7 comes and goes with no DC# from Mike. On Tuesday January 8, I receive this PM from Mike, “ Hey there I wanted to give you an update. I dropped your package in the mail on Monday. I came back from lunch today at work to find it sitting on my chair. It seems I forgot to write your City, State, and Zip Code on the box. Now, I have done some dumb things before, but this might take the cake. At any rate, I will be “reshipping” your package first thing tomorrow morning, and will supply you with the DC# once I have it. I just wanted to keep you in the loop. Mike”

Tuesday January 8 through Saturday, January 12, no DC#. The evening of the 12th, I send a PM to Mike, “Do you have a tracking number for me?” Mike responds later that evening, “Hey there, I do, but it is currently at work. I will send it to you first thing Monday morning. Sorry for the lapse in communication. The past couple of days have been pretty hectic for me. I will PM you on Monday. Thanks for your patience. Mike”

Monday January 14, no DC#. Tuesday January 15, no DC#. Late Tuesday evening I send a PM once again to Mike, “Have you shipped my item? Do you have a tracking number for me?” Ten minutes later I get Mike’s response, “Hey there, Yes, the item has been shipped. I can’t remember if it went out on Saturday or on Monday. I do have a DC#, but it is at work. I know I have been a bear to get a hold of lately. Work has really been a mess.. I will spare you the details, but rest assured that your package is on the way. I do apologize. It is not like me to ship late, but I have not been able to even get away for lunch at work lately. I have been installing and deploying a new mail server, and it has been a mess. I will PM you in the morning with the #. You should be receiving the package no later than tomorrow. Mike”

The next day, January 16, the package arrives, I see that the ship date is Monday January 14. I open the package, check the contents of the retail box and discover there is no media because Mike failed to include the installation CD!

I send a PM to Mike, “Hey Mike, that package is here. I open it up and there is no media, the CD is missing.” A short time later Mike responds, “Hey there, I am so so so so so so sorry. I took the CD out when I originally got the software and put it in my book. I thought that I had put it back in before I shipped it. I am going to overnight you the CD tomorrow so you will have it on Friday. It will be coming via FedEx. I will get you the tracking # tomorrow afternoon. Once again, I am SO sorry. I can’t believe I didn’t put the CD back in the box. Mike”

The next day on January 17, shortly after noon, Mike sends the following PM, “Hey there, I dropped off the FedEx package. It will be picked up this evening, and it’s tracking number is: XXXXXXXXXXXX. I apologize for the inconvenience. I couldn’t believe that I didn’t put the CD in the box! At any rate, it will be there tomorrow. Thanks again Mike”

The next day I receive a FedEx package with the installation CD. Shipping the CD via FedEx and providing the FedEx tracking number via private message is the only time Mike kept his word.

Sending the CD via FedEx did not impress me one bit, after all I had endured a small string of broken ship dates. I waited for two weeks for this item, all the while listening to different excuses, and I never got that DC# from him. I feel that Mike was less than honest with me and I would not enter into another transaction with Michael Pitts as the seller unless he agrees to ship first.
