slimpsy agreed to sell me i7 4790k / ram / mobo / ssd. I paid via verified paypal. REFUNDED IN FULL

I ask user slimpsy if they would be interested in selling me four components out of a build they had listed on HWS. slimpsy asked what I would be willing to pay for the parts I answered reasonably and they countered my offer with a slightly higher offer including shipping. I agreed to the price after a lengthy conversation about how experienced they were at shipping and selling parts in general. At this point I asked for a time frame for when I could expect them to ship. The deal was made on a Thursday and slimpsy explained that shipping Friday was unlikely but they would try, but promised me if not Friday Saturday for sure. At which point I sent the money via paypal. Saturday I received this message from slimpsy - "Hey smittypantz, some bad news. . . I went to pack things up this morning and while I thought I had a motherboard box with anti-static bag and some extra packaging it turned out to be a box for a 980ti with no motherboard anti-static bag. I've looked through what I have here and it doesn't look like I have anything that I could safely ship the motherboard in without damaging it. Although I thought I for sure had a motherboard box, I do not. I will see what I can come into and touch base with you again. My kids are starting school this week and my in-laws are coming into town so I really don't know when I'm going to be able to have time to get something figured out. As such I am refunding your payment. It's unfortunate because I did disassemble everything last night on my extra desk. I don't want to keep you waiting and notice a lot of great 4790k deals popping up on the sub so I will touch base with you again if I figure something out and you haven't found something. Please accept my apology for this inconvenience. . . it's equally frustrating for me. Enjoy your weekend! Refund coming your way :)". To which I responded with this, - "Buy some anti-static bubble wrap at the post office or ups. I bought many other parts to complete this build and now I am missing the core components. I thought we went through all this, you said your an experienced pro at shipping. This is not a problem its an easy fix.". slimpsy responded with - "Ok, I will try to wrap with bubble wrap then. I am experienced in shipping with actual component boxes and anti-static wrap. I'm more than willing to work it out, I Just didn't want to keep you waiting so I refunded. I will see what I can find at officemax today. I have the items ready, I just wanted to ensure they were shipped as safely as possible."
At this point I gave some suggestions for how they could package and ship the parts safely. On Sunday slimpsy responded with this, - " Sorry for the delay in reply. My in-laws came into town and that took priority over my weekend. The primary reason I didn't want to split the system up was because I knew I was short on the boxes as I stated in my ad. I really don't want to buy a bunch of shipping materials and take even more of a hit to get this packed properly. My wife works in the opposite direction of the post office, so that's not something I'm going to make her go out of her way for. I did the right thing by refunding your money the next day after realizing I couldn't ship timely and didn't have the supplies to ship. I'm sorry if that rubs you the wrong way or you disagree with it, but it's going to be a busy week for me again with my oldest two starting school and having to juggle all that. To you it may seem like I could easily run to the store, but we live by the school and my wife and I share transportation so I cannot just "run out". Please understand that and accept my refund and apology and let's move on from this. I wish you the best in your search, and I'm sorry if I let you down."
So I was refunded in full but I am left with no parts and now have half a system because of it. I would not trade with this user again. slimpsy seems to have a laundry list of reasons why the parts never got sent. Clearly they have no time for selling parts.
Response from fenderstratAs stated, I refunded the user promptly and yet I am left with this. In my mind the transaction is null and void and I feel I did the wrong thing. It's a shame he had to come here out of anger to leave me feedback when I handled the situation the best way possible.August 14, 2016
