Purchased the following items via PayPal: UC520-16 4 x Cisco 7925 2 x Cisco 7915 1 x Cisco 9951 1 x Cisco 7936 /u/HMS_Roebuck claimed to have power on tested the equipment over 24 hours
packetheavy was the Buyer on December 12, 2016 /r/homelab
Communication: Great during the sales portion, mostly non-existent after I had received and tested the parts and identified issues.
Packaging: Items were shipped 2 day at sellers expense, tracking number was promptly sent and item was shipped and arrived without delay. Items were packed well but could have used some additional bubble wrap to separate items, as a result a few screens were scratched however this is for a lab so not such a huge deal.
Issues: I had multiple issues with the items received, mostly the issues were due to /u/HMS_Roebuck not properly testing the equipment and not understanding what he was actually selling enough to know what he was selling was not functional.
- The UC520 was shipped with a live config and not sanitized, the CF card that holds the CUE software was corrupt, I ended up testing and finding bad blocks on the card and had to replace the card. I guess you have to know the hardware to know it's screwed up so it really goes to my initial point on selling items without understanding what he's selling.
- 2 of the 7925s were firmware bricked, but hey I guess they still 'powered on'
- Both 7915s had no power supplies, this contradicts his previous statement about power on testing the hardware
- The 7936 had no power supply, not such a huge deal, I have one I can test with, what do you know, the unit is DOA, again this contradicts his previous statement about power on testing the hardware
As there is a possibility /u/HMS_Roebuck will leave some bad feedback for me in retaliation for the honest review I left here I should summarize:
I would not deal with /u/HMS_Roebuck again because he lied about testing the equipment and was completely non responsive when he though that there might be some repercussions for his lie. Ultimately the issues with this sale are all due to him selling something he didn't understand and didn't test but the fiction on testing would lead me down the path that even if he was selling something that was proven working I would be wary due to him not meeting any communication obligations post sale when there was an issue.
Response from HMSRoebuckEverything was tested for 24 hour on time as I very clearly stated. I did not have the time to mess with any configuration of any device or test if software/firmware was running properly.
I also sold these at a massive discount because of my inability to properly test them. Buyer expected brand new when it was clearly bulk pricing and cheap.
To further that point. I sold him everything listed for the price of the switch alone on eBay. Then I paid for shipping myself.January 4, 2017
